Help & accessible play

Keyboard controls, puzzle resets and practical steps when a browser puzzle does not behave as expected.

Playing with a keyboard

Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between links and buttons, then Enter or Space to activate them. Tile Shift also accepts arrow keys when its board or a tile inside it has focus: the direction moves the empty space, so the neighbouring numbered tile moves in the opposite direction.

In Signal Grid and Pair Search, each square is a button with a readable name. Signal Grid announces a square’s light state. Pair Search keeps unrevealed symbols out of the button’s name and reveals them when a card is turned over. Game status text reports moves or attempts and the completed result.

New puzzle, Restart and Undo

New puzzle generates another arrangement. Restart puts the same puzzle back at its initial arrangement and resets its counters. Tile Shift and Signal Grid include Undo, which reverses the last legal move. Pair Search does not have Undo.

After two nonmatching cards are revealed, there is a short pause before they turn back over. Wait for that comparison to finish before choosing another pair. There is no countdown or time penalty.

If a board does not load
